What a Great Blue Day!

Over 300 people turned out to support child abuse prevention at Child Advocacy Services’ (CAS) Blue Run 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk and 5K Race on Saturday, April 13, 2013 in Gonzales. The Blue Run kicked off Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Blue Ribbon Campaign. Many runners came dressed in blue and joined the fun run and race at Gonzales City Hall.

Blue Run was a huge success! The overall male winner was Robbie Tanner with a time of 20:02 and the overall female winner was Susan Bellard with a time of 22:26.

Male and female winners by category were:
Age 10 and Under - Byron Alexander (age 4 - 41:00) and Ersalee Unangst (44:00);
Age 11 to 17 - Blair Tanner (age 14 - 24:32) and Chasity Mckinney (age 16 - 31:26);
Age 18 to 30 - Tyler Fontenot (age 27 - 20:20) and Heather Tregre (age 24 - 25:18);
Age 31 to 45 - Tara Williams-Davis 35yrs 24:03 Shawn Carty 36yrs 24:17
Age 45 to 60 - Dwayne Cray (age 52 - 24:30) and Sally Nesmith (age 48 - 37:21);
Age 61 and up - Ralph Tureau (30:11)

The winning teams were:

Relaxed Runners: 23rd Judicial District Bar Association

Brooke LeBlanc Knight from LeBlanc's Food Stores talked about their partnership with CAS and the promotion of Child Abuse Prevention Month at all LeBlanc's stores. She also shared her support of CAS, the services that are provided through the CASA and CAC programs, and her appreciation as a young mother to have an agency that can provide support and prevention education throughout the community. CAS welcomed the attendance of presenting sponsor St. Elizabeth Hospital, 23rd Judicial District Bar Association, Smith Chiropractic Clinic, 225 Inflatables and Rentals, Michael's Media, and Smoothie King. A special thanks to the Knights of Columbus of St. Amant who were there to provide jambalaya after the race. Big thanks to Gonzales Police Department, Fleet Feet, Tiger Audio, EATEL, and the City of Gonzales for all of your help in making the Blue Run in Gonzales a great day!
